Dear J.Crew,
This is just a quick note to say that I think you're really great, and I depend upon you (specifically, your sales) for pleasant, simple, reliable clothing (since I have a well-known fear of anything with logos or obnoxious patterns). I was really pleased to see that you have a new set of late-summer clothes online today, like this cute camisole and good tops for work.
This, however, is a problem, I will tell you right now:
The prison jumpsuit has never been one my favorite looks, since it evokes images of inmates picking up trash alongside highways or Jennifer Lopez in the late 1990s. Also, it just makes women look chunky, which, unless you are an Olsen twin, might not be doing you any favors. Look, even your model seems to be thinking, "Don't judge me, my agent told me I was going to get to wear a sundress!"
JC, I'm still going to stand by you when it comes down to it-- I'm loyal like that. But seriously, if you do something else crazy like trying to get us to wear overalls, I think I may have to defect to someone else.
Much love,
Camille.
P.S. Oh no you didn't!!
Hi, I just thought I'd put my two cents in on your post - I, too, depend on J.Crew (if not obsessively so) for my basic staples and not-so-basics for their classic lines and oh-so-soft fabrics, but upon seeing this "monstrosity" of a flashback, I couldn't help but blog about it myself. And yeah, they HAD to do the overalls. *rolls eyes*

I'm gonna agree with your post, but I have to admit I wore a romper yesterday. As in one piece. Sue me, I live in Brooklyn.

What's sad is that I clicked on the "PS" link, and that ATROCITY is sold out. I hope they really meant that they got rid of it, rather than people actually purchasing it.

oh my gosh, you're right! here's to hoping they only made three. :)

It ... sold out? Like, for money?

as someone who used to work in retail, i can tell you that the fact that it sold out probably means that they ordered a very small amount because they didn't expect it to do super well, but were trying to push the envelope a bit. j. crew is like that, especially with mickey drexler behind the scenes.
